Damodar Valley Corporation, the first major multi-purpose
integrated River Valley Project of the country conceived in line of Tennessee
Valley Authority (TVA) came into existence on July 7, 1948, by an Act
of Central Legislature. The mission at the time of its inception was flood
control, irrigation, water supply, navigation and drainage, generation,
transmission & distribution of Electricity, a forestation etc.
In keeping with industrialization in the DVC command area, power generation,
transmission and distribution gained priority for providing Electricity
to the core industries like Steel, Coal, Railways etc. and other State
Electricity Boards.
This emphasize on capacity addition programmed for Power generation gained
a new direction under MOP, GOI. In addition to the programmed capacity
addition of 1210 MW in 10th 5 year plan and 6,000 MW in 11th plan, DVC
has decided to rejuvenate the existing units through comprehensive overhauling,
refurbishment and implementation of green field mega projects.
DVC is one of the premier power utilities with an installed capacity of
2857.2 MW through 8 nos, Power stations, Power Distribution Sub-station-
44 Nos. & Transmission line 5066 Circuit kilometers.
Keeping in view the changing scenario in power sector and the environment
of regulatory regime, to remain as a mega power utility in the eastern
region, DVC is meeting the challenges in every sphere of its activities.
With its excellent practice in Power Generation dedicated by dynamic workforce,
DVC has ambitious growth plans. To make it successful DVC is looking for
promising, energetic young Graduate Engineers having excellent academic
record to join the organization as Graduate Engineer Trainees.
